Dresden File Graphic Novels

So I usually stick to the comic books when it comes to graphic novels. Normally I am a huge critic on Graphic Novels. I mean a fun Marvel book or such is a nice break but so many kids only ready Manga and such that is is not developing their reading skills. With this said I saw the Graphic Novel of the Dresden files and I was intrigued. I had read the novels so I decided to check out these. I was very impressed. They are hard to discribe with out ruining the stories so I will leave you to check them out online. But the links are below and you can get a great feel for them on Amazon.

Dragonriders of Pern

Search Amazon.com for the dragonriders of pern

My dear friends, today I share a series of books with you that is very close to my heart. Anne McCaffrey is an author that truly brings her Characters to life. She has also done an amazing job in passing this along to her son Todd McCaffrey. In recent years Todd has taken over the series and has done a remarkable job. Many readers have a difference of opinion on which books to read first.

My opinion is that you really should pick up Dragonsdawn first. In this book we meet the world of Pern. The book takes place as the settlers of the world first arrive. This book is divided into three sections. The first section is very much Sci-Fi as it takes place in space. The Second section transitions to the world of Pern and eventually the introductions of Dragons as the title suggests. Some will find this book a slow read however I promise that the information provided will be crucial to the stories to come.

The next book to pick up will be The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall. Once you this book is made of three distinct stories. The first will give you insight into why the settlers chose Pern, while the other two stories will parrallel and fill in some gaps from Dragonsdawn.I will admit however that it does also leave some new questions unanswered however eventually they fade to the back of your brain.

When you have made it through these two books I promise you will be hooked on the writing style and be all ready for the first book of the series Dragonflight. You can pick this up on its own or as part of The  Dragonriders of Pern which is a collection of the first three books.

Codex Alera Series by Jim Butcher

The Codex Alera Series by Jim Butcher starts with the book Furies of Calderon
This series takes place in Alera where humans have these amazing bonds with Furies. Furies are physical representations of the elements. Each person has a connection with an element and in turn a fury. However 1 person in all of Alera does not. A young boy from Calderon named Tavi. Book 1 follows his adventures as he heads off to rescue some sheep that he was suppose to bring in the previous day.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in Fantasy, Action or even a good old fashioned Drama. This series has something for everyone. I promise you will get sucked into the lives of these people and you will feel everything they do. Jim Butcher did a remarkable job with this series. I was very hesitant at first because I was not very impressed with The Dresden Files. I must say he made a fan out of me in the first 25 pages.
Enjoy the book and I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did.
